 1433888    Title:A journey through service architectures and process manag
 ement towards resilient and dynamic smart enterprises Abstract:After an ov
 erview of his past and recent research activities\, Massimo will focus on 
 two recent works about resilient-by-design modeling of processes based on 
 CMMN - Case Management Model and Notation\, and dynamic throttling managem
 ent in Web APIs. Specifically\, the first work presents a design-time matu
 rity model for processes\, including an extension of OMG CMMN\, enabling s
 uitable data-driven extensions\, and a framework for classifying resilienc
 y levels of CMMN process models.  The second one addresses the issue of or
 ganisations dealing with the dilemma 'to expose or not to expose' their da
 ta through Web APIs and - depending on the nature of their business - pond
 ering possible opportunities and pitfalls. Rate limiting strategies are wi
 dely employed to control access to data and to safeguard back-end computat
 ional resources. However\, their effectiveness depends on a good choice of
  the maximum allowed rate at which information can be 'safely' released to
  users. The work proposes a technique to select an appropriate rate limit.
   Short bio:Massimo Mecella is an associate professor at Sapienza Universi
 tà di Roma\, and currently Director of the course degrees in Engineering i
 n Computer Science (bachelor and master levels). His research focuses on b
 usiness process management\, cyber-physical systems and Internet-of-Things
 \, advanced interfaces and human-computer interaction\, software architect
 ures and service-oriented computing\, with applications in multiple fields
  including digital government\, smart spaces\, Industry 4.0\, healthcare\,
  disaster/crisis response & management\, cyber-security\, digital humaniti
 es. He published about 200 research papers\, with an overall h-index of 36
 \, and chaired several conferences in the above areas (including General C
 hair of the recent CAiSE 2019\, prospective General Chair of BPM 2021 in R
 ome\, prospective PC Chair of Intelligent Environments 2021).
